Aluminum PCB

We use the Fr4 (glass fiber) as the material of the PCB in the past, but because some products need the PCB for the high heat and fast heat dissipation. We start using aluminum alloy as the PCB material. Aluminum is a low-alloyed Al-Mg-Si series high-plasticity alloy plate, which has good thermal conductivity and electrical insulation Performance, and machining performance. The aluminum substrate can withstand voltage up to 4500V, and the thermal conductivity is higher than 2.0. So it can help you to improve the thermal diffusion when you make the PCB design, and it can reduce the product’s operating temperature, increase the product’s reliability and lifetime.



What’s the stack-up of different Aluminum PCB?

The aluminum substrate is a metal-based copper-clad laminate with a good heat dissipation function. The single-layer Alu PCB is composed of a three-layer structure: circuit layer (copper foil), insulating layer, and metal base layer, see below stack-up for your reference:
