Waterproof PCBA
EnquiryDescription
Why do we need to use the waterproof PCBA?
Suppose customers want to increase their lifetime and ensure their product’s consistent performance in challenging environments. They must consider using the waterproof PCBA.
The waterproof PCBA can be moisture- chemical-resistant, and dust- and particle-protected. If your PCBA is not waterproof protected, and your PCBA can cause short circuits, corrosion, and potential damage to some sensitive components later in Harsh conditions. So waterproof PCBA can save us the cost of repair or replacement cost
The waterproof PCBA will mostly used in outdoors, Consumer electronics, Automotive Industries, Medical devices, renewable Energy
What kind of waterproof PCBA you can do?
Most customers will choose conformal coating waterproof PCBA, it is a non-conductive coating applied to the surface of the PCB to produce it moisture, dust, chemicals, and other contaminants. We use acrylic, silicone, urethane, or epoxy-based. The second one we can use is a nano-coating waterproof PCBA, which is a PCBA using nano-scale material (it is very thin and can go into the small gaps on the PCB surface). Thirdly we use Encapsulation waterproof PCBA, We use epoxy resin or silicon to seal the PCB and its components, which can do perfect protection against moisture and mechanical damage. Lastly, we use Hermetic Sealing waterproof PCBA, It can make complete isolation from the external environment using glass-to-metal seals or ceramic-to-metal seals.
PCBA designers often choose the right waterproofing method for their PCBA (Printed Circuit Board Assembly) by considering the product using the environment, cost considerations, and the PCBA lifetime.
What’s the difference between each type of waterproof PCBA?
Let us see what’s the advantages and disadvantages of the different kinds of waterproofing PCBAs.
Conformal Coating | Nano Coating | Encapsulation | Hermetic Sealing | |
Advantage | 1, Price Affordable
2, Flexibility (Can be selectively applied to areas that need protection) 3, Repairable easily
|
1, High Precision Protection
2, Maintains PCB Aesthetics 3,Enhanced Electrical Properties(Some nano coatings offer improved electrical insulation properties) |
1, Comprehensive Protection
2, Durability: Offers robust protection suitable for harsh environments and outdoor applications. 3, Enhanced Mechanical Strength
|
1, Standardized Protection
2, customization based on specific environmental requirements. 3, Long-term reliability and performance in extreme conditions.
|
Disadvantage | 1, Limited Protection: not suitable for extreme conditions.
2, Impact on Heat Dissipation |
1, Cost is more expensive
2, Application Complexity: Compatibility Issues: Some nano coatings may not be compatible with certain materials or PCB configurations |
1, It is more complex and costly
2, rework or repairs are difficult 3, weight and size increased to the PCB assembly,.
|
1, Cost can be expensive due to the precision engineering and materials involved.
2, Complexity: Requires careful design considerations 3, making changes or repairs can be difficult
