For 2oz copper boards, the minimum effective trace width and spacing increase slightly — for example, FX PCB supports 6/6 mil line width/spacing at 3oz, with finer rules achievable at lower copper weights.

2oz of copper refers to the weight of copper per square foot of PCB surface, equating to approximately 70 µm thickness. It is classified as a medium copper weight, offering roughly double the current-carrying capacity, improved heat dissipation, and stronger mechanical integrity compared to standard 1oz copper boards, making it ideal for power electronics and industrial designs.

2oz copper PCBs are well suited for power distribution systems, automotive electronics including EV modules, industrial control equipment, UPS systems, medical devices, and high-power LED lighting. Their enhanced thermal conductivity and current-carrying capacity make them reliable in environments where standard 1oz copper boards would overheat or fail under load.
