The appropriate surface finish depends on your application requirements, operating environment, and soldering process specifications.

Aluminum PCBs offer a thermal conductivity of approximately 1–3 W/MK, which is already significantly higher than standard FR4. Copper core PCBs provide superior thermal performance of up to 400 W/MK, making them the preferred choice for the most extreme thermal management requirements. Aluminum is generally more cost-effective, while copper delivers maximum heat dissipation.
