PCBA SMT Assembly Services

Surface Mount Technology (SMT) assembly is the process of mounting electronic components directly onto the surface of a printed circuit board. Automated pick-and-place machines position components with precision, followed by reflow soldering to create reliable electrical connections. SMT enables high-density designs, smaller form factors, and faster production compared to traditional through-hole assembly.

SMT components are mounted on the PCB surface using solder paste and reflow ovens, making them ideal for compact, high-volume designs. THT components are inserted through drilled holes and soldered using wave or selective wave soldering, providing stronger mechanical bonds for connectors and high-stress parts. Many modern boards use a mixed SMT and THT approach to leverage both technologies.

Our SMT lines handle a wide range of component packages including very fine-pitch parts as small as 01005 (0402 metric) resistors and capacitors, BGAs with pitch down to 0.1mm, QFN, QFP, CSP, and standard SMD packages. Our advanced Japanese Yamaha placement machines ensure accurate placement of even the most challenging ultra-miniature components.

We offer both options. Our turnkey service handles everything—component sourcing, PCB fabrication, SMT assembly, testing, and packaging—under one roof. For consignment assembly, customers supply their own components and we handle placement and soldering. Turnkey is recommended for most projects as it reduces lead time, ensures component traceability, and simplifies project management significantly.

Every PCBA order goes through multi-stage quality inspection: 100% Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) checks placement accuracy and solder quality, X-Ray inspection verifies BGA and hidden solder joint integrity, electrical testing confirms circuit continuity, and Functional Testing (FCT) validates board performance to your specifications. All assemblies meet IPC-A-610 Class 2 or Class 3 standards depending on your requirements.

Standard lead time for PCBA SMT assembly is 1–2 weeks from the time all components are confirmed. Prototype orders can often be assembled from as little as 24 hours once all parts are available. Quick-turn and expedited options are available for urgent projects. Lead times vary based on board complexity, component availability, and order volume.

We support low-volume orders starting from as few as 1–10 boards for prototyping and design validation, with no unreasonably high minimums. Our flexible manufacturing setup allows efficient production for small batches, medium runs, and high-volume mass production.
