Self-Adhesive Flexible PCB Antennas

SFX PCB's flexible PCB antennas are fabricated on polyimide or polyester substrates using DuPont films in non-adhesive, adhesive, and top-coat configurations. Adhesive types include acrylic, epoxy, and phenolic-based compounds. Polyimide is preferred for high-temperature or aerospace applications, while polyester offers a cost-effective option for consumer and general electronics use cases.

In low-volume production, SFX PCB supports up to 8 layers for flexible PCB antennas, enabling complex multi-layer RF designs. For mass production, single and double panel configurations are standard. Multi-layer constructions allow controlled impedance routing and improved signal isolation, which are critical for high-frequency antenna performance in aerospace, automotive, and medical devices.

Available surface coatings include ENIG (Electroless Nickel Immersion Gold), OSP, HASL, Immersion Silver, and Immersion Tin. ENIG is widely favored for antenna applications due to its flat surface and excellent solderability. The choice of finish affects signal performance, corrosion resistance, and compatibility with SMT assembly processes, so selection should align with your application environment.

Mass production supports 4mil/4mil outer layer traces and laser drilling at 5–6mil. These capabilities ensure precise impedance control (±10%) critical for consistent RF performance across antenna production batches.
